Getting started

Where do you work?

Most of our clients are within about an hour of the workshop in [your region]. For larger or architect-led commissions we regularly travel further, so do ask.

Is it only kitchens?

Not at all. Alongside kitchens we make wardrobes and dressing rooms, libraries and media walls, freestanding furniture, garden kitchens and commercial interiors.

Can I come and see the workshop?

Please do. Visits are by appointment so we can give you our full attention, show you work in progress and let you handle the materials.

Design & pricing

What makes bespoke different from fitted?

Fitted furniture is usually assembled from standard-sized boxes with filler panels. Bespoke furniture is designed and built from scratch for your exact space, so there are no fillers and no wasted inches.

What does a Hartwood kitchen cost?

Every kitchen is different, but most of our kitchens fall between £25,000 and £60,000 for cabinetry and installation. We will give you a realistic range at the first visit and a fixed price once the design is agreed.

Do you charge for design?

The first visit is free. Detailed design work carries a small fee, which is deducted in full from your project if you go ahead with us.

Will you work with my architect or designer?

Gladly. We often build to an architect’s or interior designer’s drawings and can add workshop detailing and practical advice along the way.

Installation & aftercare

How long will my project take?

Allow roughly 2 to 4 weeks for design, 6 to 10 weeks in the workshop and a few days to two weeks on site. We confirm your schedule in writing with the quote.

Can you organise worktops, plumbing and electrics?

Yes. We coordinate stone fabricators, plumbers, electricians and decorators we trust, so you have one point of contact from start to finish.

What guarantee do I get?

All of our furniture carries a ten-year workmanship guarantee, and hardware is covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty, often for life.

How do I care for painted or oiled finishes?

Painted surfaces just need a soft, damp cloth. Oiled timber benefits from a fresh coat of oil once or twice a year. We leave a care guide and a touch-up kit with every project.
