Our story

It began with one bench and a stubborn idea.

Hartwood started in a rented lock-up with a second-hand saw and a belief that furniture should be made for the room it lives in, not squeezed into it.

Today we are a tight-knit team of designers, cabinetmakers and installers working for homeowners, architects and businesses. The workshop is bigger, but every commission still begins the same way: a conversation, a sketchbook and a tape measure.

We sweat the details most people never notice: grain matched across a run of doors, drawers that close with a whisper, finishes chosen to age gracefully.
